I am a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a resident of Falmouth, Maine. Now retired from a career as an electrical engineer, I have also served as a teacher at the middle school and high school levels in math, introduction to engineering, robotics, computer programming, and 3D graphics and animation. I also supervised the Game Development Club and coached the FIRST Robotics Team. I have about seven years of experience as a tutor.I derive a deep sense of satisfaction from helping students gain confidence in science, math, engineering, and technology. Whether I am tutoring math, physics, or programming, my method is the same. I help the person understand the basic concepts and the importance of learning the subject. I don't believe in just handing the student the answers; they should connect the subject matter with problems relating to everyday life, and students should know how to reason their way through problems. I am available to tutor students taking all levels of algebra and pre-calculus. I am also willing to assist students who are preparing for the math portions of standardized exams such as the SAT and the ACT.In my spare time, I am interested in sailing, flying, and robotics.
